authorizations can be used in conjunction with cases to track visits or financial limitations that the patient’s payer approves for example, perhaps you need to track visits for a military patient who must have authorizations for all office visits once you receive the authorization approval and details, you can add the authorization to the patient’s case add an authorization 1\ select an existing case 2\ from the authorizations tab, select add authorization 3\ in the add authorization slideout, enter the details authorization number (or name) date requested service types status date approved approval from / approval to authorized providers authorization type total authorized rendered outside practice rendered at this practice total remaining note you can choose from three different options when choosing the authorization type visits counts the number of visits if specific authorized procedures are also chosen (see below), the system will only count the number of visits that include one or more of those procedures if no authorized procedures are chosen, the system will count all visits as part of the authorization units counts the number of units for one or more authorized procedures dollar amount tracks the total dollar amount of charges for all visits 4\ click add diagnosis a enter diagnosis codes and/or descriptions to search b select add diagnosis for the diagnoses that apply to this authorization c click done 5\ click add authorized procedures a enter procedure codes and/or descriptions to search b click done 6\ enter the allowed units or dollar amounts if this authorization will be tracking by either of those authorization types 7\ click save authorization default cases will automatically be assigned to a patient’s appointment when it’s being created any authorizations associated with the case will appear in a dropdown menu, from which you can choose the appropriate one once the case is attached to the appointment, the system will notify you if charges are posted during the encounter that are not covered by the authorization the system will also automatically keep track of the visits that have been completed under this authorization return to the authorization within the patient’s case to see how many visits have been rendered
