when you receive payments directly from your patients, whether copays or later payments towards deductibles or patient responsibility, it’s important to know how to enter these note that while you’ll probably be entering copays from the check in or check out screens, you can also enter copays using this method while most ledger activities can be done from either the patient’s ledger or the practice ledger, patient payments can only be entered from the patient’s ledger 1\ navigate to patients 2\ search for and select the patient’s profile 3\ click the ledger tab 4\ click add new payment 5\ select the patient payment card 6\ enter the payment details 7\ select a button to choose the payment method and, if necessary, enter the additional details 8\ click post after the payment is posted, you can click allocate payment to immediately allocate the payment to the appropriate charges you can also print receipt , email receipt , or close the window note if you have turned on automatic allocation of patient payments in settings, the payment will automatically allocate to the oldest charges with patient responsibility, and you will only see options to print the receipt, email the receipt, or close the window in this slide out you can learn more about auto allocation here if you want to print the receipt, you can print with or without the patient’s future appointments included check the include future appointments (print only) checkbox, then click the print receipt button
